Industry-wide questionable design

When I think of bad design, two industries come to mind: greeting cards and pharmaceutical advertising. Greeting cards can be extremely well executed design-wise, however many holidays fall prey to schmaltz, like the example below.

Bad design is also present in pharmaceutical advertising, but they have more of an excuse. They have to convey so much information that it often detracts from the clear message. Plus, they often deal with uncomfortable situations and either end up creating something impersonal (with blacked out images) or cheesy to cope with the embarrassment.

Bad Logos?

Trying to find something related to bad design I started thinking about logos and how many of them today have become almost something like a "generic". The fast food chain logos have been around for so long that everyone recognizes the shapes, colors, etc... Are these good logos or a convenience of being classics? Can we distinguish between good design and delicious food signs?

Here is a blog that has a lot of "bad logo" design.
